A member of the legal team of Egypt’s ousted President Mohammad Morsi says the incarcerated leader has spoken to his family by telephone for the first time last week.

Lawyer Mostafa Atteyah said Wednesday that Morsi telephoned his wife and children last week and another time two days later. Atteyah said the 62-year old leader said he was in good health.

Mursi has been held in an undisclosed location by the military since he was removed from office July 3, following days of mass protests demanding he step down. He hasn’t been seen since.

Only the European Union foreign policy chief and an African Union delegation have visited him in his lock-up. Mursi faces trial for inciting the killing of his opponents. No date has been set for his trial.
